EvalSuite Slack Assistant: Install, Use, and Remove
This guide covers the full Slack assistant lifecycle for EvalSuite: connect the Slack workspace, use the shipped meeting and reminder workflows, and remove the integration cleanly.
Audience
Managers and org admins responsible for Slack setup in an EvalSuite workspace.
Workspace setup requirements
Manager or org-admin access
Managers and org admins can view Slack assistant settings. The installed Slack workspace is org-scoped, so changes affect the whole EvalSuite workspace.
Slack workspace authorization
You need permission to authorize the Slack app for the target workspace before EvalSuite can connect it.
Workspace availability
Slack can be paused globally or for a specific organization. If it is paused, installs, commands, App Home refreshes, and manager-brief Slack nudges remain unavailable until re-enabled.
Before you start
EvalSuite exposes Slack Assistant in `Settings -> Integrations`. The connection is stored at the organization level rather than per individual manager.
Once connected, Slack can support slash commands, app mentions, App Home summaries, quick observation capture, and optional weekly manager-brief DM nudges.
- If the workspace is not installed yet, EvalSuite may show an `Add to Slack` button for the first install path.
- If the previous install was revoked or hit an error state, EvalSuite can show `Reconnect Slack` or `Reconnect Workspace` instead.
- If Slack is paused globally or for your workspace, you will see that state in the same card before reconnecting.
- Slack quick captures still live canonically in Review AI Suggestions, but EvalSuite now mirrors them into the Capture Inbox shell as review items so managers can see meeting capture and Slack capture work side by side.
Add or reconnect the Slack workspace
Use this when you want to authorize the EvalSuite Slack app for your organization.
- The connected Slack workspace is org-scoped, not personal.
- If the install was cancelled, EvalSuite will surface a `Connection cancelled` or `Connection failed` state on return.
- Open `Settings -> Integrations -> Slack Assistant` in EvalSuite.
- Click `Add to Slack`, `Connect Slack`, or `Reconnect Slack`, depending on the current state.
- Review the Slack authorization screen and approve the workspace install.
- Return to EvalSuite and confirm the card shows `Connected` plus the workspace name or Slack domain.
Use case: manage workspace-wide Slack behavior
Use these controls when you want to decide which Slack assistant behaviors stay active for the whole EvalSuite workspace.
Enable Slack for this workspace
This is the workspace-level kill switch for installs, commands, app mentions, App Home refreshes, and Slack manager-brief nudges.
- Open `Settings -> Integrations -> Slack Assistant`.
- Find the `Enable Slack for this workspace` switch.
- Turn it on or off based on whether the workspace should use Slack right now.
Publish App Home summary
This shows each manager or admin a live coaching queue in the Slack app home using current EvalSuite signals.
- Prerequisites: the Slack workspace must already be connected and Slack must be enabled for the organization.
- Open `Settings -> Integrations -> Slack Assistant`.
- Turn `Publish App Home summary` on or off.
Weekly manager-brief DM nudges
This sends the existing weekly manager-brief signals into linked Slack DMs in addition to email.
- Prerequisites: the Slack workspace must already be connected and Slack must be enabled for the organization.
- Open `Settings -> Integrations -> Slack Assistant`.
- Turn `Weekly manager-brief DM nudges` on or off.
Use case: run Slack commands and captures
These are the current command examples exposed directly in the EvalSuite Slack Assistant card.
- `/evalsuite` opens the manager coaching queue.
- `@EvalSuite reviews` surfaces pending manager reviews.
- `/evalsuite capture @name | observation | 1:1` saves a quick draft observation without opening EvalSuite first.
- `/evalsuite recognize @name | message` sends public kudos in EvalSuite.
Remove the Slack workspace
Use this when you want EvalSuite to stop using the connected Slack workspace.
- Future slash commands, app mentions, App Home refreshes, and manager-brief Slack nudges stop after removal.
- Existing EvalSuite records created from earlier Slack actions do not disappear automatically when you remove the Slack workspace.
- Open `Settings -> Integrations -> Slack Assistant` in EvalSuite.
- Click `Remove` on the connected workspace.
- Confirm the card no longer shows the workspace as connected.
Troubleshooting and support
Use the public support page if the Slack install is paused, the authorization flow fails, or you need help understanding which Slack behaviors are currently enabled.
- General support and FAQs: `/help`
- Slack can be visible but unavailable when support or your workspace has paused the provider.
Need help with a Slack rollout?
Open Support if the install is paused or failing, or create a workspace and connect Slack from Settings to test the shipped assistant behavior.
